My name is Egor Sokolov and I am a father of 5 and a husband. One day while I were working on a project in the barn, my wife said that she had news. She said that Serbia needs our help in a war. Austria- Hungry declared war on Serbia. I knew that we were in trouble. I am so mad because now we are in a war that we did not even start. I knew that since I was 37 years old that I could go to war with my dad and uncle. I got drafted the next week. I did not want to go but they made me. They said that Serbia made some weapons that killed Austria-Hungary's archduke.
I was somewhat suprized that the archduke was dead. I thought that they had a good military behind them and a good protection to the archduke. I was wrong I guess. I did not care that he died because I did not know that much about him and he had no meaning to Russia. I hope that the teacher was wrong about Serbia making the weapons for the black hand. It would be so stupid if I died from fighting for Serbia. Serbia better help us the best they can. I was a basic soldier. I was just out on the field to assist our real soldiers. They gave me a gun and told me to go to war. This is that stupid archduke that had to die to start all this. When I got the news about my unit going out for battle in two weeks I was worried. Over half of our unit was school boys. Just turned 18. We wore uniforms that looked like this.
**www.landships.freeservers.com** We had to go through some tough grounds to get to Austria-Hungry. When we got about 2 miles away from A-H's main base we set up camp. We ate and slept a little and then went over our plan. There was going to be 2 units going in from the west and 1 unit from north. Our unit was going in from the east but we had the main part. We had to wipe out their army trucks that supplied them with there guns and ammo. I knew from that point on it was not going to be easy. I was doing so good that after about a year at war my captain promoted me to squad leader. This meant that I was very important to my men and I got to make decisions. I was very proud. We had heard that they had tanks and that we were going to see them so we move into position and dug a antitank ditch just in case if the rumor was true. It looked like this. LIFE
This will stop them. Them A-H's will not get us now. They think they are better than us but they are so wrong it is not even funny. They don't know our special weapon that my people are making back at home. We heard that their army had tanks that could kill a large number of people at on time. We had to do something to catch up to them. We sent in a few men to A-H's base to see how the tanks were being made. Our guys drew up some blueprints and we sent them back home. We told them to build these killing machines so that we could win this war. They thought that they had tanks. HAHAHA We make the real tanks. Here is one of them. www.modelshipgallery.com We are shipping it over here by boat so that nobody will see us driving it. We would have to go through 2 countries to get to the front line. We knew that the people of Austria Hungary would tell their military about us coming. So we had to figure out a way to get them over to the front line. We looked at a map for a few minutes and I figured it out. We would build ships that could hold these tanks, so that we could bring them right in between Italy and Austria Hungary. We could attack from the back and the front. We are so tricky. HAHAHA
I found out next that we were not just fighting Austria Hungary but bloody Germany. I hated it because we were stuck in the middle of all of it. We had to watch are backs. We need some help. So we asked France to help us. It worked. They agreed to help us win this war. We had French soldiers out on the front line in 2 days fighting. We needed all the help we could get on the front line. We were digging trenches as fast as we could. I told my Captain that some of my men needed rest and food. I told him that we were going to dig a tunnel into the ground so that we could have a room for my men to sleep and be safe. We had 2 guys standy at the opening of the tunnel to protect us while we sleep. We knew that someone could throw a grenade down the tunnel and we were all dead. We took some sand bags and made a door. I have to amit it, it was somewhat peaceful. I knew that we still had to fight the next day but for 4 or 5 hours it felt peaceful in a hole in the ground. We got rested up and started fighting again. I killed a German and took his gun back to are bunker that night. We were looking at it and tring it out. It shoot very good and it had a lot of ammo for it. So I told everybody to take ammo and the guns from the germans that they killed and bring it back to base. Before long we 14 guns and a huge pile of ammo. I took the rookies rifles and handed them the German guns. We let them go out into war with the guns and see how they did. They came back needing ammo. They said that the guns shot very well but they wasted the ammo. They used way too much ammo. We gave them all the ammo that we had the first time around. We used all of the ammo in the rookies guns. We needed guns and everybit of ammo we could find.

I was taking over the machine gun for our trench for a couple of hours when my best friend Austin told me that today was Christmas eve. I did not even know. It was Christmas eve and we were still going hard. We were not giving up for nothing. We are going to win this war for Russia. We went the whole night fighting and killing everybody in our sight. It was Christmas day. All of the guns had gone quite. You could only hear Russians and Germanys talking to each other. I did not know what was going on at all. Why were there not any body shooting. I peeked my head over the trench for a second to see that there was Germans and Russians playing soccer. They were getting along dring and playing games. At first I thought it was a joke and that they were going to open fire on us but they never did. I steped out of the bunker and started to talk to the Gereral. He said not to go out there it is a trick and if you become friends you will not shot them in war. I started to go and he said NO. I said I am just going to go out and see what they are doing?" He said, that he will watch my back. He pulled out a gun and kept it aimed at the German I was talking to. It all turned out good because we ate and played games all night long. The next day we started to fight again. It was good to have on day of rest and fun.

This was one of the posters that made me think about war. I did not know for sure if I wanted to go to war or not but I knew that my country needed my and that I might be next drafted to war. So I better start liking it. That is what went threw my head when I got a phone call from the Army. At first I thought that I might die so I did not want to go. Now it does not even bother me that is in the back of my head. Every now and then I might think about my wife and kids but I am tring to save my life in this war so I am not thinking about it right now.
I noticed that my squad was getting very low on ammo and that we have not had any food in 3 days. We were getting weak and very fast. More of my guys were dying because they were so hungary and tired that they could not keep their eyes open. This meant that we were not kill as many as the germans as we should be. More of the Germans were coming at us with bigger and better forces than us. I told my men to pack up and watch others backs because we are getting out of here. I headed out last. I only lost 3 men as we left the front line. We were jumping out of trenches and into other ones. We finally made it out of the war zone. I went back to our base camp to stock up on ammo and food. I asked where all the ammo and food was and they said we were out. I said WHAT we cant be out we are in the middle of a war. They said that General Pavel and his elite squad took the rest of what we had. I told them that we had to do something. My men are dying out there and I will not take it any more. While my squad set up camp I got news that we were signing a treaty with Germany. I was mad and happy at the same time because I did not want to give up and get out, but I did want to save as many men as I could if it meant getting out. We had no ammo or food, what else could we do? Nothing. So we waited at base on ammo and more news about the war and the treaty. It took about 20 days but it finally came threw. We signed the peace treaty on June 28, 1919. We were out of the war and were heading home to our familys. We lost a lot of men in that battle. We lost about 5.5 million soldiers in the war.

As we were leaving I was getting news on U.S.A. getting into the war. I guess that a German U-boat had shot a Cuise Boat down with at least 100 U.S. soldiers on it. U.S.A. also heard that Germany was going to help Mexico take back some of their land that is the U.S.'s now. That meant another war. The U.S. had had enough crap I guess. They were ready to fight. I did not care at all because we were out of the war now. Finally we get to go home. That was the end of the war for Russia.
When I got home my wife and 5 kids were waiting on me. I was so happy to be home and not be risking my life for any one. It was really bad at night because I had nightmares of fight in the war and dying. It was bad. Really bad. Other than that I love being home and eating home made food again. I love my country.
